Final project Recipe

Shrimp Fra diavolo with linguine      In terms of the recipe that I choose to do was that it actually went really well. The prepping and cooking process of the dish that I made was fairly successful. This dish is one of my favorites that I made. When I made the tomato sauce mixed in with the garlic and parsley. It had a strong flavor to the sauce that did not do the slow cooking of it over medium heat. After mixing the sauce evenly, I put the finished tiger prawns in with the sauce to absorb the flavor. I personally really enjoyed making this dish I would definitely make it again.     Step 1: I first took the 1 pound of tiger prawns out of the fridge and got a medium size bowl to then peel all the shells off. step 2: put in 2 tablespoons of oil 3/4 teaspoon of salt and lastly put in 1/2 tablespoon of red pepper flakes. Step 3: Put a pan on somewhat high heat and have the shrimp on one side for about 30 to 40 seconds. After I flip the shrimp...

Baking goods kitchen activity

Homemade peanut butter cookies list of ingredients: - 1 cup of shortening  - 1 cup of granulated sugar - 1 cup of brown sugar - 3 eggs - 1 teaspoon of vanilla - 1 cup of peanut butter - 3 cups of sifted all-purpose flour -  2 teaspoons of baking soda  - 1/2 teaspoon of salt     The above picture shows that we added the following list of ingredients and mixed them together in a large mixing bowl for about 5 minutes or so. After I got all the dough mixed together I then put a tablespoon size on a baking sheet. I made about 50 or so cookies through the whole entire batch that I made up. Before I put them in the oven I used I serving size fork and placed them in flour then pressed them down to make them cook evenly.      The above picture shows the finished product of the peanut butter cookies. I let them cool for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a plate. In terms of the chemical reaction that I saw during the process of the coo...

cooking with chocolate

Chocolate mouse     I made some chocolate mouse to be to incorporate some amount of how I could use this in different dishes like a cake for example. I first got 3 bars of sea salt dark chocolate and about 1 1/4 cups of cold water. I also put ice over the water to keep the water cool.            You can see in the picture above that I  chopped up about 340 grams of dark chocolate to be then melted and mixed with the water that I boiled over medium heat on an electric stove top.       The above picture shows the finished product of the chocolate mouse that did not turn out the way I wanted it to. I melted the chocolate in the microwave for about a minute or so to let it melt. The chemical change that happened during the process of trying to make a chocolate mouse was that it was form some separation between the water and chocolate to put these two things together. The flavor was not the greatest so it tasted ver...

Dairy products

Homemade Yogurt      I used about half a gallon of milk and vanilla-flavored yogurt. This was a relatively successful way to put into how I went about making the yogurt.       I put about half a gallon or so in a pot over medium heat. I also put about 2 tablespoons of yogurt in the milk. I combined all the ingredients together in the pot.       This is the process of the milk and also the yogurt will be able to be mixed together. In terms of the chemical process was that when the bubbles formed it was that turned the milk to be a little bit thicker than it was.       This is the finished product of the yogurt that I attempted to make. The taste of it after it was done was a very bland flavor. My yogurt did not turn out as well as I thought. One thing I would change if IK were to do this again is I would probably put milk on for longer to combine it with the yogurt.  The successful part of it was being...

Final project recipe

Shrimp Fra Diavolo with Linguine     The pasta dish is really considered fairly advanced mainly because of how many parts there is two the recipe. The recipe does require multiple parts to having to prepare the shrimp properly. I've made this with my family but never really did it on my own.  ingredients: - 1 pound of linguine - 6 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil  - 1 cup of small diced onions  - 3 tablespoons of minced garlic - 2 to 3 tablespoons of crushed red pepper flakes  - 1 1/2 cups of tomatoes sauce - 2 tablespoons of tomato paste - 1 1/2 pounds of shrimp  - 1 teaspoon of salt  - 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley  Reference: Lagasse, E. Food Starch or Vegetables

Potatoes     I used one potato to use for my French fry dish. I first thoroughly rinsed off the potatoes and got off excess germs. I then cut them into french fry-like sizes to be placed on a baking sheet. I did use some amount of salt to bring out the flavor of it.            It shows the process of them going into the oven after boiling them for 8 minutes or so to get some of the starch out. I did evenly distribute on the baking sheet to be cooked evenly.       The picture up above shows the finished product having them in the oven for 40 minutes or so at 450 degrees. As you can see they did not go as well as I had hoped it would. A lot got burnt in the process of pulling them out. The taste of french fries was that they seemed to have a burning taste and also a rough texture to them.       The chemical reaction that went on was that the oil from the fries made it easier for them to be overcook...

Candy and caramelization

Making Carmel      I made a simple recipe for  making sweet and tasty Carmel for the enjoyment for a nice tasty desert. The following list of ingredients were used,  sugar, water, vanilla extract, kosher salt. I did find this recipe to somewhat intriguing to try to make is because I have never made candy before and I just thought I might want to explore something new.       In this picture it is showing the process of the combing of the sugar, water and salt to then come to a study boil over medium heat. it took a little longer to boil over then I expected. I let it simmer for about six minutes or so before adding the heavy cream to the pot.      After I put the heavy cream into the pot I began to stir it a lot to get it turn the different color in the description of the recipe of what its supposed to look like when its done. I then was able to get the sugar and salt and heavy cream mixed togethe...

Maillard Reactions Kitchen Activity

New York strip steak       I made a grilled New York strip over a grill on high heat. I seasoned it with Jonny's seasoning and some pepper on both sides on it. I let the steak rest for about half an hour before putting it on the grill over the period that I had enough time to get the flavors going into the steak. I then preheated the grill two about medium to high heat on the searing cycle.      This shows the seasoning that was used for the steak to be able to have an even amount of flavor throughout the dish. The seasoning was evenly distributed throughout the steak itself to be able to not have a bland steak. I particularly think that these two seasonings worked really well together in regards to getting more of the flavor out. You can argue that there are multiple ways to season a steak because you could just do salt and pepper, which might be just as good. It really comes down to preference on how you want your steak to taste.   ...

Egg experiments

Lab 4: Egg experiment      I made eggs with a touch of milk added into the mix before I transferred it to the pan to cook it. I also used some cheddar cheese to add a bit of flair to the dish. I  had the pan at some medium heat in regards to that if you have the burner on too high it could affect the outcome of maybe overcooking the eggs. If you use Pam oil that would be totally fine that is what I used. But you can use just olive oil or butter as another alternative to make the eggs not stick to the pan so easily. I also put salt and pepper and salt after it was done.  whole milk + eggs     This was the beginning stage of the process before I transferred them to the pan rather than the other way around of just cracking the eggs right into the pan. I went ahead and grabbed two eggs out of the fridge to then crack them into a bowl. I also went to grab the milk out of the fridge to a little bit into the bowl to mix it in with all the eggs. It created a m...
