Homemade peanut butter cookies
list of ingredients:
- 1 cup of shortening
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 cup of peanut butter
- 3 cups of sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
The above picture shows that we added the following list of ingredients and mixed them together in a large mixing bowl for about 5 minutes or so. After I got all the dough mixed together I then put a tablespoon size on a baking sheet. I made about 50 or so cookies through the whole entire batch that I made up. Before I put them in the oven I used I serving size fork and placed them in flour then pressed them down to make them cook evenly.
The above picture shows the finished product of the peanut butter cookies. I let them cool for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a plate. In terms of the chemical reaction that I saw during the process of the cookies being cooked in the oven, I did see them starting to brown a lot more when I smashed them a little bit too thin. The cookie had a not-to-sweet peanut butter taste to them. I also noticed that the texture was very much wanting to get at that it was silky and smooth-like. In terms of the process of leavening the baking process was that when we added the baking soda that allowed it to have more volume to the cookie itself.
What I thought went well was that I was able to mix all the ingredients fairly well before putting them onto the tray. I think if I were to repeat this again I would want to maybe watch how much I'm pressing down on the cookies with flour to make sure they don't get over done.
